Review of Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) by Peter B — 07 Nov 2011
A bit disappointing. Was lookin forward to this for a while and whilst it builds nicely throughout it ultimately goes absolutely nowhere. I kept waitin for a big finale but it did not arrive. Ultimately its too short - had there been an extra 20 minutes or so at the end then this would have been a chrimbo classic for sure.
...but its 2/3rds of a great film that kinda just ends. But what is here is a Gremlins-esque christmas film that is dark in a tongue in cheek way and is the definition of a cult film in waiting. I'll certainly watch it again and maybe it'll be one of them films thats better the second time.
