Review of Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) by Christine S — 03 Jan 2013
It's not the demonic Santa you need to worry about... It's his cannibalistic, children-kidnapping elves!
In all seriousness... the film-making was good, and the storyline was unique (not the best I've seen but different from other horror films).
-- SPOILERS BELOW --.
The only few aspect of the film I was confused about was why Santa was even underground in the first place. He can't deliver toys there... so perhaps that means that the parents were doing it the whole time.
I think the ending also comments on how commercialized the concept of 'Santa Claus' is nowadays - everyone tries to make money off of him to the point where he becomes an 'evil' of society and takes revenge on those that have exploited him. It is ironic *and* interesting that the only one that actually believes in 'Santa Claus' as a person (and not a commercialized concept of him) is able to save himself from its horror.
