Review of Rango (2011) by Alastair W — 25 Apr 2013
Rango is a film about a pet chameleon with a identity crisis who gets lost after a car accident. He then wanders into the town dirt where he becomes their sheriff and has to save them from a water crisis.
It is a inventive and clever film and really captures the spirit of a western movie. It has a lot of clever humour, a heartfelt story and amazing visuals with a scene involving a clint eastwood escque character who looks amazing.
All of these make Rango a entertaing band engaging film that works on all levels just like pirates of the caribbean. However one problem is the sudden ending and the lack of a good pace as every scene seems to rush to the next leaving not much time for some of the film to breath.
Also some characters deserve more screentime. This film may be no "How to Train Your Dragon" however it will probably be one of the greatest films of the year.
