Review of Rango (2011) by Cat M — 13 Aug 2014
The animation and voices are excellent, but I found the plot fairly formulaic other than having a bizarre look at things. It wasn't until I did more research that I appreciated it more, that much of the movie is an homage to other movies like Chinatown, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Depp must have had a blast doing this. Not for small children, but still fun for older ones and adults that can cut loose a bit or understand the references.
