Review of Rango (2011) by Tara H — 15 Mar 2016
Animated spaghetti western with Johnny Depp? Yes please - and it mostly lived up to expectations, though it didn't really get going for a while and the romance was predictable. Basically a pastiche of lots of other movies - even one of my all-time favourites, Chinatown - and also the more famous creations of producer George Lucas.
I was slightly irritated to hear Ray Winstone voicing yet another cockney heavy. But I loved the Castaneda-style mystic journey, and the Clint Eastwood-like Spirit of the West, not to mention the owl mariarchi band!
