Review of Rang De Basanti (2006) by Sachet V — 17 Jul 2009
Rakesh Ompraksh Mehra's magnum opus. A rare indian treat. Gem of modern day bollywood. The movie dealt with friendship and indian politics esp role of youth in politics in an inspirational way. The first half was fast paced and energtic with one of the best screenplay work ever in indian cinema. In stark contrast was second half where core of the acting lies. Everyone involved justified their inclusion.
The comparison with indian freedom fighters and revolutionaries was innovative. Rahman gave the right kind of music the movie deserved and no one could have done a better job than him. The start is as good as the end. You rarely see such a beggining and conclusion in bollywood.
