Review of Ran (1985) by Neha S — 10 May 2008
Shakespeareâ??s â??King Learâ?? was one of the most engaging novels that I read. And I must say that there could not have been a better adaption of King Lear than â??Ranâ??. Ran is a relentless chronicle of how few words of flattery led to a wrong decision and which ultimately led to the destruction of the entire kingdom of â??Hidetoraâ??.
The movie is cinematically mesmerizing, visually appealing and emotionally daunting. The movie depicts a range of emotions like greed, forgiveness, vengeance, guilt etc. This movie is a masterpiece and a definite must watch.
