Review of Ran (1985) by Stephen C — 16 Nov 2008
What an amazing movie. I expected Lear obviously, but this was just so powerful. Why haven't I seen it before? I guess I'm just too familiar with Kurasawa's early films. Not just Lear either.
In some ways it is Jiro who is the tragic figure, the real victim of others as well as himself. And of course it looks so good.
