Review of Ran (1985) by Patrick E — 29 May 2009
Sometimes, film can leave me speechless. Some films can so grip me that I am completely overwhelmed by them, unable to even move, holding my breath. Ran is one of those films. Utterly and completely spellbinding.
If there were an adjective beyond epic, I would use it. Kurosawa's adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear is nothing short of a masterpiece, and one of the finest films that I've ever had the pleasure of viewing.
