Review of Ran (1985) by Brock R — 22 Jul 2009
Kurosawa only gets better with time, and his interpretation of King Lear is stunning. The feudal Japan setting works just as well if not better than feudal England, and Kurosawa's ability to make salient the tragedy of battles is in high form here, highlighting even further the gross despair of the King Lear story.
