Review of Ran (1985) by Kevin D — 26 Oct 2009
Not a perfect film, but Akira Kurosawa's 'Ran' is a rather remarkable one knowing the backstory. In my opinion, it's overlong and overflowing with long shots--which for the most part make sense.
The overall visuality of the film is stunning and the emotion portrayed through the King Lear-based story is powerful.
