Review of Ran (1985) by Lasse C — 22 Feb 2010
I have never truly been able to understand people's fascination with Akira Kurosawa. Truthfully I have only seen a few of his movies but the movies I have seen are supposed to be among his true epics, Seven Samurai, Rashômon and now Ran.
I find his movies to be too drawn out and to be honest poorly paced and dated. I know I am a minority but Ran doesn't rank higher than an average score to me. Tatsuya Nakadai's performance really was the saving grace for this movie.
His expressiveness was beyond eeirie.
