Review of Ran (1985) by Nathan G — 28 Mar 2010
This film blows my mind. The setting is a harsh, medieval landscape where warfare is devestating everything in its path. The story focuses on the retirement of a successful warlord whose rash decisions inadvertantly destroy his family and the kingdom he fought so hard to establish.
The ending images, with all of their contradictions achieves a type of beautiful mysticism which I cannot recall in any other movie.
