Review of Ran (1985) by Eduardo C — 14 Mar 2011
Can one take something as literally sacred as "king Lear" and actually improve upon it? The answer is a resounding yes and here is the evidence. No matter how many times I watch this, at least 10 times by now, it always leaves me astounded and and broken down in tears.
The ending is so unforgettable, infinitely powerful, and a strong candidate for greatest ending in the history of film.
