Beautiful and nightmarish Shakespearean epic.(I wrote that before I knew it was largely a retelling of King Lear.)Some brilliance here. Unforgettable images. And no other filmmaker would've made the choices he made.
However, it's longer than it needed to be . . the middle part of the movie is slow and repetitive and becomes uninteresting.
