Review of Ran (1985) by Dave L — 05 Dec 2009
Akira Kurosawa shows once again why he is a masterful director. He was 75 when he directed this film and had fought long and hard for it to get made. This is a version of Shakespeare's "King Lear" that is set in feudal Japan where a power struggle erupts between three sons.
This is the definition of an epic. Stunning battle sequences and incredible cinematography.
