Kinda boring honestly. Not enough destruction. It never tries to be anything more than cliche. The heavy focus on human characters makes for a poor representation of the video game. Not to mention that this human aspect of the movie largely doesn't work.
There's no real payoff with the monsters here either like there was with other somewhat recent giant monsters movies like Pacific Rim or Godzilla (2014).
