Review of Rampage (2018) by Steve S — 17 Apr 2018
The best thing I can say about Dwayne Johnson's newest film is that it delivers on its meager promise to throw plenty of CGI action at the screen, while spouting off corny one-liners, and most importantly it promises to show big animals fighting.
It does that, but is that really all we hope for now in a movie. The film is pretty dumb overall with more of its share of head-scratching lines. Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy are so corny and weak as the villains.
As I left the theater the comment I heard the most was, "That wasn't as bad as I expected." I guess a movie succeeds to a point nowadays just as long as it isn't as bad as people thought it would be.
