Review of Rampage (2018) by Imthenoob — 28 Aug 2018
Johnson and Morgan do their best to save the movie from being another generic CGI monster flick and it works to mixed results. The characters, outside of Johnson's and Morgan's, feel too stereotypical and there's no depth or emotion in really any of the performances either, Which makes things even worst IMO. The CGI also sticks out like a sore thumb in many scenes, It's almost too obvious at times when a scene is done on a green screen set (the entire ending for example) and I really give that up to bad directing and not being able to blend the two together in a more realistic way. And the writers of this movie really need to cut back on all these cheesy one-liners, They're so cringe-worthy and not funny in the slightest.
Overall, Rampage is exactly what you expect it to be: A CGI film geared towards cashing in on one thing and one thing only: Dwayne Johnson's ability to draw an audience. It's not a terrible movie but I feel that it could have been a lot better than what it was.
