Review of Ramona and Beezus (2010) by Emma M — 03 Dec 2010
*** (out of four).
I know nothing about the novels that this film is based on, but the film itself is a very sweet, endearing family story that is benefitted greatly by an appealing screen presence by nine year old Joey King as Ramona.
Ramona doesn't think she quite fits in. Her older sister, Beatrice (Selena Gomez), nicknamed Beezus, is perfect. But poor Ramona doesn't live up to those standards. Despite this she is really the center of the family and is crushed when her Dad loses his job and looks to move his family across the state.
Gentle and kind-hearted, it's good to see that a film rated G, doesn't mean it has to be dull.
