Review of Ramona and Beezus (2010) by Abby D — 01 Dec 2010
The Beverly Cleary books were a big part of my childhood and surprisingly the movie was really cute. The girl who played Ramona did a GREAT job, the parents were fantastic and even the storyline with the Aunt and Uncle was sweet.
Sometimes the slapstick was a little broad but I liked how they incorporated some of stonrylines from some of the books into the movie. The biggest problem was the casting of Beezus. This Selena Gomez is a terrible actress and portrayed Beezus as this mean spirited spoiled princess when Beezus was not at all like that in the books.
And I believe she sang at the end of the movie and she does not even have a singing voice! This is just another example of a Disney star getting by fame just by her looks when she really has no talent at all.
Let's hope she has her fun now and let it run out just like Hillary Duff's career did.
