Review of Rambo III (1988) by Elliot D — 04 Sep 2008
Starting with the title what in the hell happened to the First Blood? Shouldn't this be First Blood Part III? Well, it doesn't matter and I guess they wanted brevity. This movie is by far the weakest point in the series.
The story is very minimal with Rambo living a semi-peaceful existence in Thailand only to leave to go to fight the Russians in Afghanistan in order to save his old mentor Col. Trautman. The action gets even more ridiculous than in Part II with Rambo actually taking on an entire army of Soviets and taking out a chopper by driving a tank into it.
The theme, if any is lost amidst the explosions and spectacle that Rambo had become. Once again I don't hate the movie. Despite Rambo's downward digression I would still rather see Rambo than most other action movies.
So, basically this is only for action and Rambo fans most everyone else probably won't like it much.
