Review of Rambo III (1988) by Peter B — 28 Feb 2008
This time...it's personal. Poor ole Rambo is chillin with his bitches (in a monastery or somethin, I dunno I wasnt really payin attention) then they take Richard Crenna and it's time to suit up.
Poor Richard Crenna. The action is as good as ever, especially the end with tanks and helicopters flying all over the shop blowin things up....dont understand ladies? It's the male equivalent feeling that you get when yuz watch that dirty dancing thing.
But it reeks of tryin to get a message across and make a point when it should stick to what it soes best - actionness. the film is dedicated to Afghanistan and tries to show we all the same - He aint heavy he's my brother as the song over the end credits? Just doesnt fit with the tone of Rambo-ness.
When its good its great, when it aint its just beyond bad. But Richard Crenna, I like to think that he adopts Rambo and becomes his dad. Chin up Rambo mate, go for a pint or somethin.
