Review of Rambo III (1988) by Andrew S — 21 Dec 2010
"One man against trained commandos... Who do you think this man is? God? No. God would have mercy. He won't.".
I don't really understand what the disappointment is all about? This movie falls under the genre of action and thats what it delivers from top to bottom.
Yes I know, it is cheesy, but still you would be lying if you say you didnt want to be like Rambo when you were kids and being obsessed with Rambo sequels. It brings great memories from childhood. I even remember was asking my parents to buy me a Rambo knife for a birthday. Ofcourse, I never got it.
This time John Rambo goes from Vietnam to Afganistan. Still looking fit and strong and also covered in baby oil.
We all got use to it that Rambo never dies and kills 1000s with just one clip of ammo. Typical. But thats what Rambo is famous for. And we still like it.
I watch it every time it shows on tv, just like it is a 1st time. There is some certain magic about it.
Why the hell does russian colonel wear a leather jacket in afganistan where everyone around him are sweating like pigs? Im glad he dies at the end, all together with his stinking leather jacket.
Some critics note that the timing of the movie is balanced with the start of the War in Afghanistan and display of the Mujahideen as friends of the United states gave the movie a new political undertone altogether. But that is just politics. We are here to enjoy movies.
The 1990 Guinness World Records deemed Rambo III the most violent film ever made, Rambo with 261 kills.
Rambo is a legend and no bad critic can destroy this truth. Real action hero icon.
This movie does not have a plot and it doesn't need one because the reason it was made was to blow crap up!
