Review of Rambo III (1988) by Dean M — 12 Mar 2012
The problem with Rambo as a character is that he really is a bore. I loved First Blood, but to get two sequels out of him was never going to go anywhere but down.
The whole one man army (not a tourist) thing with the multitude close up reveals of cranky Rambo became almost a parody by the bitter end. It's been touted as the most violent and expensive movie of its time which really surprised me considering today's standards.
Rambo III is an action flick with absolutely no depth, that comes off as more of an ego trip for Sly than anything else.
I do like a good helicopter gunship though.
