Review of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) by Paul C — 12 Mar 2009
Who better to kick the Commies ass and rescue our American boys then Rambo? This movie, the like the first one, actually makes some decent points, but also likes the first one, any potential message gets shrouded in a hail of bullets and ridiculous kills and one-liners.
Rambo must have done some weight lifting in prison, as he is super cut in this one as opposed the rugged look he sported in the first. Really, this was the perfect movie for 1985, as it is awash in American jingoism and Commie bashing, a perfect bi-product of the Reagen era.
While it is Rambo again trying to emote, or wiping out an entire prison camp's worth of soldiers while shooting an M60 one-handed, there are again plenty of laughs to be had in this movie.
