Everything that made First Blood stand out is gone for this one. Rambo is made insanely tactical, insanely muscled and the badass factor is upped by about 20. Nice! For its time, this was really intense in terms of action and set ups.

It put Rambo on the map of fame and made many memorable quotes (Reagan even quoted it at a point). That doesn't mean that there's still a message here. There's one particular scene towards the end (again) that shows Rambo is still fighting his own demons.

In this one it's a sort of redemption for the events in First Blood. Sylvester Stallone is, once again, excellent as the title character. Crenna also pops up in a small but still very likeable role.

Add to all this some kinetic directing by George P. Cosmatos (did the movie ever stop to breathe? I didn't notice!), amazing scenery (the jungle is a beautiful place) and yet another great score by Jerry Goldmsith and you get a different, but perfect counterpart to the original.
