Review of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) by Steve J — 20 Oct 2009
Very hard to judge retrospectively, considering it basically defined a entire genre, and it's been parodied so many times it's hard to think what it might have been like seeing this for the first time.
However, I can say that the action is good, the premise is satisfying, the set pieces are memorable, but it really is just a mindless actioner, missing a lot that made the first film such a triumph, but you can't help but enjoy seeing Rambo in his element.
There's some substance to Rambo II, but could have done with more.
