Review of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) by David D — 30 Dec 2009
The best 80s action film I've seen. Die Hard and Predator might argue that it has guts to match, but they lack the political spirit. The female, usually a throw-away, is truly helpful and meaningful in Rambo's journey.
Cuts hit with ferocity as Rambo leaps from challenge to challenge. His invincibility may not be called into question, but watching his superhuman skill in action always entertains. Rambo's motivation amounts to a black and white world, and his identity embodies a commentary on the mindset of a society not long ago.
