Review of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) by Anssi V — 10 Oct 2011
Not bad as far as action movies go, but it's not as great as I expected it to be. Okay, good things first. The action is pretty decent. There are some cool scenes, people die satisfyingly and well, it's a Rambo movie.
The music is not bad for its job, the locations look authentic enough to my amateur eyes and the story serves its purposes. What I didn't like were the predictability of the plot - though there were some surprises, which was nice - Stallone's acting - I usually like him, but he started to deterioate towards the end - and the villains.
There's really not anything more to say. If you like action movies, you'll probably like this one as well, it's a classic within its genre after all, but for anyone else... you probably won't get all that much out of it.
So, as an action movie it's good, but as a movie it's only average.
