Review of Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) by Elijah Z — 28 Dec 2018
I give Ralph Breaks the Internet an 82%. First off, the film was very fast-paced and entertaining. Secondly, Phil Johnson & Pamela Ribon's script was mediocre. This was due to the fact that it dealt with social media which in itself, brings up a lot of separate topics.
I appreciate the fact that the writers decided to add "the comment section" topic to the film. It is important, but I feel that the writers bit off more than they could chew. Yes, it is a children's film and you can only include so much while still keeping them entertained.
This is true, but complaints should be expected when certain topics of something so big aren't explained in better detail. I absolutely love that the casting director was able to hire all of the actors who voiced the Disney princesses to have special roles in the film.
I also love the other additional voice actors who were added to the sequel such as Wonderful Woman's Gal Gadot and Empire's Taraji P. Henson. My only complaint about the cast is that the supporting original cast weren't given much to work with in the film.
Ralph Breaks the Internet is a good movie to watch when bored for the most part. I have to say it definitely felt like a cash-grab attempt, but the sequel delivered enough of the goods to keep younger audiences entertained.
