Review of Raising Victor Vargas (2003) by Olivia G — 19 Aug 2008
Loveryboy Victor Vargas has one thing on his mind: girls. Your modern version of Casanova set in Manhattan's Lower East Side tells a story about Victor Vargas trying to be a ladies man and finds himself in a relationship with an around the way girl, Judy.
While pushing up on Judy, he has to come home to the turmoil going on in his household, where he begins to change his lifestyle around and become a better person. The cast is fantastic. Victor Rasuk portrays Victor Vargas as a believable woman seeker, and owns the role period.
The script is very realistic, with most conversations that are relevant to teenagers when pursuing love and beginning a new relationship. The direction gives a real since of New York life, set in a predominantly Latin neighborhood.
The film is overall great and satisfying. Watch it.
