Review of Raising Helen (2004) by Sofeana Z — 03 Jul 2008
Raising Helen is not a flop thanks to the children actors here. Hayden Panettiere and Abigail Breslin are among those whose liveliness in their roles add colorful touches to an otherwise predictable and dull film.
The romantic link between Corbett and Hudson seemed contrived. (am I the only one who thinks Corbett has had great success in My Big Fat Greek Wedding?!) Pairing Kate Hudson has diminished Corbett's charm as an actor.
Joan Cusack's role was undermined into miniscule mention so that Hudson can turn around and understand how to become a mother... 119 minutes is a little long for this, but for the children's sake.
..it's not really a total piece of crap.
