Review of Raising Helen (2004) by Jonny P — 29 Aug 2009
I love this movie. There is just so much that is great about it. First, the kids are PERFECTLY cast. Kate Hudson's role was made for her as the crazy, young, free spirit that is suddenly burdened with responsibility, John Corbett is so likeable and brings a great comic edge to an otherwise serious plot, and this is probably Joan Cusack 's best role ever.
This is truly a touching story with a lot of unexpected twists and a lot of funny moments, despite the heavy emotions hanging over this entire story. The title is perfect, as you expect to watch Helen raise these children, but in reality they raise her and shape her into a responsible adult.
Just see it, it will probably leave you in tears like it did for me. :-).
