Review of Raising Cain (1992) by Nathan W — 21 Aug 2005
[color=white]John Lithgow is terrific here, playing five different roles, and Brian De Palma's direction is so slick that it's reminiscent of Hitchcock (watch for the long tracking shot in the police station).
Unfortunately, the material is so seriously confused that the talent behind the camera (and in front of it, for that matter) is never able to triumph. The film is never sure whether to be legit or simply tongue-in-cheek, and it almost seems like several different movies grafted together.
