Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by Ryan K — 11 Mar 2010
This movie really surprised me. I loved it! I usually hate Nick Cage but he worked for me in this zany, off the wall comedy. It smacks of the Coen brothers, but it seems clear they hadn't adopted the classic Coen style they would become famous for.
One scene really set itself apart and made this a great movie. There is a scene where Cage tries to steal some diapers and the cops show up. The entire thing turns into the most hilarious disaster I have probably ever seen on film. The film had the typical thoughtful ending of the Coens, and why it sometimes doesn't jive with me, it did this time. Great film from start to finish!
