Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by Joseph H — 17 Apr 2012
Classic Coen brothers black comedy. Raising Arizona has a lot to offer it's audience. Fast paced, funny, heart warming & sad. One of the my favorite Nicolas Cage performances as well. He was the perfect choice to play H.
I. Holly Hunter is also excellent as 'Ed'. John Goodman & William Forsythe have several great scenes as the 2 escaped convict brothers. "We felt the institution had nothing left to offer us.
" Barry Sonnefeld's camera work is excellent, especially in H.I.'s dream sequences. Overall, it's a little overly zany at times & not the best portrayal of Arizona, but should be commended for it's originality and pristine execution.
