Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by Kyle C — 20 Jan 2010
"Keep your G D hands off my" copy of raising arizona. One of those few unique comedies that will truly stand the test of time. Easily nicolas cage's best movie in my opinon. If there was ever a movie to be labeled original this would be it.
A criminal named hi keeps coming and going out of prison because of his obession to constantly rob convient stores. Since he doesnt use live ammunition in his gun he doesnt stay longer than 20 months at a time tho. Each time he's brought in he meets an officer and soon to be wife ed. Hi finally decides to straighten his life out and proposes to ed and she accepts. They finally decide theres to much love to spread to just keep between the two of them and want to have a baby. After many attempts and no success ed visits the doctor who tells them she is unable to. After trying to get one every conventional way possible and being denied they had given up. It isnt til the big news story breaks that they hear about the local furniture store king who just had quints. So naturally they decide he's got more than he can handle what would one less hurt and they kidnap nathan jr. This is practically just the first 10 minutes. See everything from nicolas cage trying to be talked into swinging to getting chased by a bad A bounty hunter.
John Goodman is spectacular in this as he usually is in the coen brothers movies. He plays one of hi's escaped convict friends. And the fight scene between him and nicolas cage in the trailer is epic. Also best narration ive ever heard in a movie too.
So just sit down knock back a couple cokes and watch a truly spectacular movie. These words dont do it justice.
