This movie is an extremely underrated, beautiful but bleak tragedy. One of my favorite movies, and not just because I'm in love with Gong Li. I've been waiting years for a decent dvd transfer of this and one seems to finally be coming out on July 24 from MGM world cinema.
DO NOT watch this or Ju Dou on the Razor Digital series, it's horrendous.
