Review of Raise the Red Lantern (1991) by Antonio B — 13 Jun 2007
Probably the most exquisite film ever made. It's compositions, pacing and performances are as near to perfect as a constructed artifice can be. Gong Li again transcends her roel as the third concubine of a rich unseen merchant in feudal China.
I can't say enough good things about it.
