Review of Raise the Red Lantern (1991) by Georges C — 18 Dec 2007
This was probably the first chinese film (In Mandarin) that I saw, must have been back in 1997 when I first saw it on tv and I watched it from beginning to end and enjoyed it, thus was the beginnings of my appreciation of foreign films I guess.
This film was also the film that launched actress Gong li (Memoirs of a Geisha) and Director Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) into international recognition.
