Review of Raise the Red Lantern (1991) by Cate H — 21 Apr 2008
Very tragic film about the the thin line between a wife and a concubine (the actual title of the book the film is based on is "Wives and Concubines"). Amazing performances by all the women. I love the fact that you NEVER even see the "Master's" face up close, so we never know what he looks like.
