Review of Raise the Red Lantern (1991) by Jdc + Vlt — 11 Oct 2008
A riveting family drama. The best part is the cinematography, which captures both the oppression and opulence of the women's small world. The worst part is that once you know the tragic ending the suspense which holds the languid pace up probably won't be there for a second viewing.
