Review of Raintree County (1957) by Bob W — 18 Feb 2008
In the vein of Gone with the Wind, another longish, Civil War epic romance tinged with sadness and tragedy. The original author took his own life eerily akin to one of his characters. Taylor and Clift are phenomenal, but Clift, after a car accident during the shooting of this movie, never really recovered his career after that and died much too young.
Nevertheless, a prodigious and lavish effort.
