Review of Rain Man (1988) by Sally H — 10 Feb 2011
When Charlie first comes into contact with his brother Raymond, you can't fail to feel some sort of intense dislike for him and for his attitude towards his disabled brother. However, as the film goes on, a side to Charlie emerges that you almost never expected to see, and suddenly everything you thought melts away - or, as is more likely, is washed away in a stream of tears!! The chemistry between Hoffman and Cruise shines throughout the film and their portrayal of Raymond and Charlie is just stunning.
Hoffman brings Raymond to life in a way that makes you smile for all the right reasons. It's a brilliant film - I am still kicking myself for not having seen it before now!!!!
