Review of Rain Man (1988) by Gene H — 30 Dec 2011
Rain Man is a fantastic film about some self discovery and some familial discovery. Tom Cruise plays the title character here, but his performance takes a back seat to a masterful portrayal by Dustin Hoffman.
Cruise playing a much younger brother must come to terms that his legacy isn't just what his checkbook says, but about what he never had the opportunity to truly value, and that is the relationship with his brother.
Hoffman plays the Autistic Raymond so perfectly that you are never left feeling sorry for him, but rather you find yourself wanting to be in the same room as him. Give this one a good chance classic cruise, and perfect Hoffman.
