Review of Rain Man (1988) by Luis G — 24 Jan 2012
Brilliantly blending so many proven elements into one movie, Rain Man may not have a great deal to say, but what it does say it does so effortlessly.
How can you possibly go wrong with a gently amusing buddy roadtrip flick containing a stirring portrayal of mental disability, a character overcoming family betrayal, and Hoffman and Cruise both bringing their A-game? Add to the mix a charming screenplay and Barry Levinson's assured direction, and it all becomes very clear why Rain Man is seen as something of an eighties classic.
