Review of Rain Man (1988) by Alec B — 20 Feb 2012
Though Rain Man has very depressing subject matter, it manages to pummel out so much humor and heart out of its characters and story. Dustin Hoffman is absolutely fantastic and very believable as an autistic savant and Tom Cruise also nicely develops from selfish cry-baby to a sympathetic and likable person.
The whole road-trip is shot beautifully by Barry Levinson and the script is sharp. It's a slick, funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story and an instant classic.
