Review of Rain Man (1988) by Ellis F — 12 Aug 2011
A great film about the relationship between two brothers who had never met before or even knew each other existed. tom cruise plays a selfish, greedy yuppie who realizes his father's estate has been left to an autistic older brother he had never met before, portrayed by dustin hoffman.
dustin hoffman does a fantastic job portraying an autistic savant with some extraordinary skills, which cruise's character takes advantage of. cruise kidnaps his brother for financial reasons, but ultimately realizes that he in fact truly cares for his lost brother, and that in his brother he may finally find some meaning in the concept of family.
a fantastic, moving film, though some parts of the film are a little slow-paced.
