The first ever Indiana Jones movie and boy did it give a kick-ass start to the franchise. The story begins in the year 1936 with archaeologist Indiana Jones played by Harrison Ford who fetches a solid-gold idol from the Peruvian jungle.
But French archaeologist Belloq played by Paul Freeman takes it away from him as he is his rival. Yes Indy is scared of something which is snakes which cuts us to both Jones and Belloq as professors. The next task is to find the long-lost Ark of the Covenant.
The Nazis are already searching searching for the Ark especially Hitler in order to make his troops invincible. But to find the Ark, Indy must first secure a medallion kept under the protection of Indy's old friend Abner Ravenwood whose daughter Marion played by Karen Allen evidently has a "history" with Jones.
Whatever their personal differences, Indy and Marion become partners, going through many adventures ranging from the snake pits of the Well of Souls to surviving the pyrotechnic unearthing of the sacred Ark.
Now as for me, I didn't grow up watching any of the Indiana Jones movies so therefore I'm not a fan of the franchise. This is my first ever viewing and I'm glad I saw it, knowing and having some idea of the future installments.
Raiders of the Lost Ark gets a 9.9/10.
